Three Tips For A Better Golf Game in 2020 Post Quarantine!

4/3/2020

As I sit on my porch and stare into my front yard full of divots, I’m reminded of the sad realization that all golf courses in my state are closed due to COVID-19. For some people, myself included, golf is more than a game; it’s a lifestyle and an escape from reality. However, since we can’t tee it up – Public Country Club thought it would be a great time for some tips to play better once we can get out there! So we hope you enjoy.

Tip 1: Upgrade your equipment!
The Government is literally giving everyone a $1200 stimulus check and while some people look at the check and see groceries, rent and utilities… I see a brand new set of forged irons! Sure, you may be late on your bills but if you’re hitting your irons farther, straighter and making more birdies you can easily win enough money from your friends once golf returns to keep your place.

Also, you don’t want to be the guy with last year’s driving sticking out of your bag when you walk up to the first tee. The embarrassment would be insurmountable. Instead pull out the new Callaway Mavrik and impress your friends. No one remembers how you played if you look good and have shiny equipment.

Tip 2: Spend time with your wife.
Yes, you read that right. I want you to pretend to be interested in her stories about work or her opinions about stuff. In fact, spend so much time around her now that she is tired of seeing your face. That way, in two weeks (or more) when things start to reopen (like golf courses) she will literally beg you to leave the house and go play with your friends! Boom. No more asking to go golf then feeling bad about leaving her at home with the kids. She’ll be glad your gone and you’ll be free to play 36 holes a day with no slack when you come home late, smelling like fresh cut grass and Miller Lite.

Tip 3:  PRACTICE
Even though you can’t golf, it doesn’t mean you can’t practice. Many people will wonder where they should focus their practice time: Driving, Chipping, Putting? No. Practice drinking. You can’t play all day if you’re getting sloppy after 4 beers. You need to take this quarantine time off seriously and build your tolerance. This game is hard enough sober – so you might as well drink while you play and relax.
